[Ceramics history]

Born in Arita, Saga Prefecture in 1929
1958~ Selected and awarded at the Saga Prefectural Exhibition, Governor's Award, Art Association Award, and other awards, and submitted works to the Prefectural Selection Exhibition twice
1963~ Consecutively selected for the Issuikai Ceramic Art Club, Issuikai Award, Member's Award
1967 Kyushu Yamaguchi Ceramic Exhibition, Minister of Education Encouragement Award twice
From March 1969, he was a visiting professor at the Pennsylvania State University Department of Fine Arts for five months, and taught pottery making. He went to the United States four times until 1951.
1971-2000 Selected for the Japan Ceramic Art Exhibition, and invited to exhibit at the same exhibition in Canada, the United States, and South America.
1979: Awarded the Minister of Labor's Commendation as a Modern Master Craftsman
From 1983 to 2017, he traveled to the United States 17 times to teach art at the School of Fine Arts, New Mexico State University.
1986: Friendship visit to Jingdezhen, China; European art visit, etc.
1986 Saga Prefecture Art and Culture Merit Award
September 1987: Received the Minister of Education Award at the Japan Traditional Crafts Exhibition
1988: Invited to a meeting to discuss art with the Prime Minister
May 1993: Saga Prefecture Prefectural Government Merit Award
1968-2017 Selected for the Japan Traditional Crafts Exhibition Full member of the Japan Crafts Association
April 1995: Solo exhibition in Germany for the Japan-Germany Cultural Exchange Exhibition (sponsored by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan and the German Art Museum)
May 1995: Designated as an Important Intangible Cultural Property (Living National Treasure)
1995: Judge for the Japan Traditional Crafts Exhibition; Exhibited at the "Eight Living National Treasures Exhibition"
October 1997: Solo exhibition at the Hungarian Museum of Ethnology for cultural exchange.
November 1997: Received the Medal with Purple Ribbon
March 1999: Solo exhibition in Monaco to commemorate the 50th anniversary of Prince Rainier's accession to the throne for cultural exchange.
October 2000: Solo exhibition at the Belem Cultural Center, Portugal for cultural exchange.
November 2002: Received the West Japan Culture Award
August 2003: Judge for the Japan Traditional Crafts Exhibition
November 2003: Received the Order of the Rising Sun, Gold Rays with Neck Ribbon
May 2007: Solo exhibition at the National Academy of Fine Arts in Krakow, Poland, for cultural exchange.
September and December 2012: Solo exhibitions in New York and Hong Kong for cultural exchange.
Currently a member of the Japan Crafts Association and an honorary citizen of Arita Town.
