The large sake cup is decorated with a blue ocean wave pattern, a traditional Japanese auspicious motif.
The ivory white creates a serene atmosphere and is reminiscent of a calm ocean.
[Ceramics history]
Born in Arita Town in 1929.
Around that year, he studied under the 14th generation Sakaida Kakiemon and Okugawa Chuemon, and mastered the techniques of white porcelain production.
From 1958, he worked at the Prefectural Arita Ceramics Testing Laboratory, where he continued to study porcelain molding and glazes, mastering traditional white porcelain production techniques.
He has received the Minister of Labor's Award for "Contemporary Master Craftsman" and the Minister of Education's Award at the Japan Traditional Crafts Exhibition.
In 1995, it was recognized as a holder of the Important Intangible Cultural Property of "White Porcelain."
Currently, he is a member of the Japan Crafts Association and the chairman of the Arita Ceramic Art Association.
