It represents an attempt to imitate the carved Karatsu tea bowls known from old Karatsu pottery, and to produce a tea bowl that comes close to that masterpiece.
Hori Karatsu is the most typical style of Karatsu ware, and is usually a little whiter in color, but in this piece, the kiln change gives it a reddish color, which adds interest. The sake cups created by Rui Mito feature a cute, simple yet elegant design.
