[Ceramics history]
He grew up in Karatsu and moved to the United States alone at the age of 16, where he has spent the last half of his life ever since.
He became interested in Japan's unique food culture and returned to his hometown after graduating from university to learn pottery from his father, Takashi Nakazato.

Starting with a parent-child exhibition at Manyo-do in Tokyo in 2000, he has since held numerous solo exhibitions throughout Japan and the United States.
In 2007, he established his own studio, monohanako, in his hometown of Karatsu.
In 2010, monoahanako west was founded in Maine.
He currently travels between Karatsu and Maine for six months each to create pottery.
