Imaemon Kiln's overglaze porcelain conveys the aesthetic sense and dignity of the Edo period to the present day, and its handcrafted techniques, including wheel-throwing, line drawing and shading of blue and white porcelain, glazes made from tussah ash, kiln firing using pine wood, and the blending and techniques of red-glaze (red, yellow, and green overglaze) that have been passed down as a secret method from father to son, have earned it high acclaim and it has been recognized as an organization that preserves Important Intangible Cultural Properties of Japan.
