Munemaro Ishiguro (1893-1968)

Born in Sakudo Village, Imizu County, Toyama Prefecture (now Imizu City), the eldest son of a family of doctors.
1927 Moved to Kyoto and started making pottery there. With Tenmoku glaze as the first subject, he shifted his interest from Raku ware, Akae, and Tetsue to various colored glazes. I enjoyed the free and unrestricted decoration.
1953 Selected as a national intangible cultural property for the Tenmoku glaze technique.
1955 Designated as an important intangible cultural property holder for his iron glaze pottery technique.
