Newsletter (September 26, 2025, by Yu Maruta)

Hello everyone.

The mornings and evenings are gradually getting cooler, but the heat still remains during the day. We are fortunate that Karatsu was not hit directly by a typhoon this year, but we still need to be careful.

Art Fair Asia Fukuoka 2025 has begun in Fukuoka today. This contemporary art festival is celebrating its 10th anniversary this year, and has been evolving year by year as an art fair unique to Fukuoka, a city with ties to Asia.
Three years ago, GALLERY Ichibankan also exhibited an objet d'art piece by Akio Momota. I feel that the fusion of contemporary art and traditional crafts, and the relationship between Karatsu and Fukuoka, are themes that I would like to continue to explore.

This week on our online store we are introducing new tableware by Maruta Yu of Kuromuta Sabitani Kiln.
This work by Professor O is extremely popular in Tokyo restaurants, but due to limited stock, we are now accepting pre-orders. You will have to wait about a year for delivery, but this is why it is such a rare gem. We especially recommend it to restaurant owners.

It's finally the last weekend of September.
I hope you all have a great weekend.

Naoki Sakamoto, Owner of Ichibankan
