Newsletter (September 5, 2025, Kota Tanaka)
Hello everyone.
It's September now. Due to the influence of the typhoon,
The weather has been unstable across Japan, but I hope you are all doing well.
Now, starting tomorrow, GALLERY Ichibankan will be holding the exhibition "The Charm of Kintsugi."
This project was made possible with the cooperation of Atsuko Fukuda, who runs the Kintsugi Craft Association in Fukuoka.
The gallery on the second floor of Ichibankan will exhibit works by the teachers of the Kintsugi Craft Association.
In addition, a lecture by Professor Fukuda is scheduled to take place at the nearby Oote Hall from 3:00 p.m. on the first day, Saturday, September 6th.
Furthermore, from 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday, September 10th,
We will be hosting a Kintsugi workshop at Karatsu Choco Bar, welcoming teachers and students from a Kintsugi class in Fukuoka.
In addition, starting next month, the Karatsu class of the Kintsugi Craft Association will be held at Choco Bar. Please take this opportunity to check it out.
It is said that Karatsu ware is "eight-tenths the responsibility of the maker, two-tenths the responsibility of the user."
That is why I feel that the culture of kintsugi is a perfect fit for Karatsu, and I hope that this project will help the culture of kintsugi take root in Karatsu.
This week, we are introducing new works by Tanaka Kota on our online store.
After training in Korea, his work has become even more refined, and he is highly recommended for restaurants. He is an artist worth keeping an eye on.
Well, everyone, I hope you have a great weekend this week.
Naoki Sakamoto, Owner of Ichibankan
