Newsletter (June 27, 2025, Yoshihisa Ishii)

Hello everyone.

In northern Kyushu, we are experiencing hot and humid days, as if the rainy season has ended. How are you all doing?

When it gets hot, we want cold and refreshing dishes,
Chilled sake tastes even better.
In such seasons, rather than thick earthenware,
The white porcelain dishes have a cool, refreshing look, and I think I'll be picking them up more often.

In recent years, some Karatsu ware potters have
More and more people are creating works using porcelain.
One of them is Professor Yoshihisa Ishii, who we will introduce this week.
He is currently taking on a new genre called "Karatsu White Porcelain."
Although it is made of porcelain, it retains the flavor and warmth that is unique to Karatsu ware, making it a piece with its own unique charm.

This time, we are introducing several sake cups and two tea bowls.
Please come and see the sophisticated works of these young, up-and-coming artists.

It'll be July from next week. Please take good care of your health.
Have a nice weekend.
