     Yoshizo Fukushima is the 16th generation head of a Koishiwara pottery workshop that has been in business for over 300 years. His solid craftsmanship and pottery style, which eliminates waste and emphasizes form, have won him the Purple Ribbon Medal and other awards at numerous craft exhibitions. His works are also held in the collections of the Imperial Household Agency and the MOA Museum of Art, earning him great acclaim.

    The techniques and shapes of Oishiwara ware are passed down. However, traditions are created, and must always move forward," he says. True to his own words, he continues to produce Oishiwara ware in accordance with traditional theories while endlessly pursuing his own creations.
