This year's Karatsu Kunchi festival ended without any problems.
An unseasonable typhoon approached, bringing torrential rain until just before the Yoiyama on the 2nd, but by the time the floats were about to set off, thanks to the power of Karatsu Daimyojin of Karatsu Shrine, the rain had almost stopped, and the festival was able to be held as usual.
After the Karatsu Kunchi festival, the town of Karatsu will suddenly move towards late autumn. Next week, the 12th Karatsu Pottery Tourism will be held for two days on the 16th (Sat) and 17th (Sun), so it feels like there are only a few days left this year.
The theme of the Karatsu Yakimon Festival is "Bringing people together through food and tableware," and the title also incorporates the idea of people meeting each other. At the Karatsu Kunchi festival, many different people come every year, so there are many different encounters every year.
We have had many new encounters this year, and although it has been a challenge hosting them all, we are grateful that so many people have come from far away.
The Karatsu Yakimon Festival and Karatsu Kunchi are held half a year, on each side of the year, so there are many visitors from Tokyo who make visiting Karatsu twice a year a part of their annual routine.
We highly recommend the Yakimono Festival and Karatsu Kunchi as an opportunity for you to visit Karatsu.
Well, this week in our online store we are introducing new works by Nakazato Takashi, Ogame and Kenta of Ryutagomar, which we purchased just before the Karatsu Kunchi festival.
The "Yasumoto Kajiwara New Works Exhibition" will also begin next week.
