Newsletter (December 13, 2024 Akita Sumire)
Hello everyone.
The year-end party season is in full swing,
How are you all doing?
Speaking of year-end parties, alcohol is always a part of it.
Sake, shochu, awamori, and other Japanese traditional alcoholic beverages
That's why it was registered as a World Heritage Site.
On this occasion, we hope to promote Karatsu ware as a part of Japanese culture.
We would like to promote it to the world more as a vessel for drinking alcohol.
Well, this week we will be introducing the works of Akita Sumire-sensei.
Ms. Akita is a very promising female ceramic artist still in her twenties.
He came to Karatsu alone immediately after graduating from Musashino Art University with a degree in ceramics.
After that, I became a disciple of Masahiro Takehana sensei.
After three years of hard study,
He opened a kiln studio with a climbing kiln called "Kojiro-no-Yamato-Kyoto-Machi-Kyoto."
Her work exudes a feminine cuteness while still retaining the authentic Karatsu feel and texture of the materials, and for me she is one of the young ceramic artists I am paying the most attention to at the moment.
I would like to have a solo exhibition at a gallery someday.
We would like to gradually introduce his works, which he has created at his own pace and without any strain.
I know you're all busy at the end of the year, but I hope you all have a great weekend.
